[en] The kitchen is the most lived-in area of the house, an emblem of familiarity and warmth where our culinary creativity blooms and where we share great moments. There are no two kitchens the same and neither are there two families the same.
The secret ingredient of each kitchen goes much further than simply the flavours, the aromas and the tasting experiences. At times it is subtle and discrete and at other times powerful and striking. It can be found in the smallest of details. At Viefe® we have spent more than 10 years designing and manufacturing knobs and handles for all types of kitchens and we’d like to reveal the secrets of how to incorporate these accessories in the right way into your kitchen.
From classic kitchens to the most modern, to the most art-deco, to the most minimalist…in every single one we use the same criteria when it comes to choosing the ideal knobs and handles. Firstly, we need to focus on the main colour of the kitchen and decide if we want this space to have a certain character with striking combinations of colours or, to the contrary, we want a more discrete kitchen. It’s the same with materials: a kitchen with wooden furniture can achieve a touch of modernity via the use of metallic handles, or it can achieve a vintage look by going for wooden handles or with an antique copper finish. Once you’ve decided on the colour and the material, you need to decide on the model and the measurements and here the criteria is not only based on aesthetics, but also on the surroundings. A small kitchen should opt for built-in handles. A kitchen with larger dimensions or with an island in the centre may allow for knobs and handles fitted onto the furniture which can also double up as hangers for tea-towels or other utensils.
